“We sat down at the Thirsty Pig and had an IPA. Then we solved the cross word puzzle,” said Mike Caton late this afternoon at Post Office Park in the Old Port. Caton and his wife Elizabeth were members of the YES Team that won First Place in a scavenger hunt that this afternoon on Exchange Street. The cross word puzzle was all about Maine and members of the twelve participating teams had to go on-line to do the puzzle.. The Catons might have had a slight advantage since this couple grew up in Deering Center, although they currently live in Boston. “No doubt that IPA helped us solve the puzzle,” said Mike laughing. Abby Jensen and Ben Welbourne are to be married tomorrow at the Peaks Island Inn. The couple met six years ago in college – the College of Wooster, Ohio. From Michigan, she was a biology major and Ben an international affairs major from Massachusetts. Most recently they have been living in Boston. Following a wedding at which she plans on wearing her mother’s wedding gown, the couple will embark on a three week honeymoon to Bali and Borneo. (See above left photo of the couple.)
Four years ago, Abby gave a scavenger hunt for Ben’s birthday. That was in Boston. The hunt included a surprise visit from Ben’s family; his parents and sister – who were all part of the hunt today.
Following their honeymoon the couple will relocate to New York City. Abby has accepted a position at Columbia University. She will be an administrative assistant fot special projects for environmental matters in the public health department.
