City Clerk Cathy Jones Meets With The Two Candidates Before the
Run off” on November 4, 2021 at City Hall.

Last Thursday, November 4th, 2021, two of the four candidates for at-large seats on the Portland City Council participatged in a “by lot” determination for the winner of the seat.  Two of the candidates Brandon Mazer and Roberto Rodriquez each garnered 8,529 votes.  The runoff was held outside in front of City Hall at 10:00 am.  Brandon Mazer was pronounced the winner by City Clerk Katherine Jones following the quick ceremony.

However because of the tie, Rodriguez called for a manual recount of the ballots.  It began yesterday Tuesday, November 9th at 8:00 am at Ocean Gateway.  According to a press release from the city issued last night, the recount continues today at 10:00 am at Ocean Gateway on the East End of Portland waterfront until a winner is determined.

Because none of the four candidates in the at-large race for Portland City Council on Tuesday, November 2nd received more than 50% of the vote, the runoff described above was necessary.

Please see post herein dated November 4, 2021 for background information on the runoff.
