Rally for Abortion Rights, a rally to demand an end to the dangerous, escalating attacks on reproductive rights, is planned for this Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Congress Square Park in downtown Portland.  The rally is scheduled for 11:00 AM.

This event is part of a National Day of Action, which will feature more than 600 events in all fifty states.  The actions across the country come as the Supreme Court will reconvene October 4 and hear oral arguments on December 1 in a Mississippi case that will determine the future of abortion rights for all Americans. Seven out of ten Americans overwhelmingly support Roe v. Wade.

To promote safety given the ongoing pandemic, the rally will take place outdoors. Attendees are required to follow CDC social distancing guidelines and wearing masks will be mandatory.  For more information, visit map.womensmarch.com

Other Maine towns in which comparable events will be held on Saturday, include:  Eastport, Milbridge, Waterville, Bangor, North Haven, Blue Hill, Brunswick and Belfast.
