While returning from training in the Weymouth Street area this morning, Engine One crew members spotted smoke coming from the structure at 12 Weymouth Street. After investigating, it was discovered that the fourth floor porch in the rear of the building was on fire.
Because of the size of the four story, multi-unit building and the potentially high number of occupants in the building, it was declared a two alarm fire. Lines were stretched to the fourth floor of the building whlle searches were simultaneously conducted throughout the building. Multiple occupants were assisted from the building. The fire was considered under control at 11:06 AM.
The fire is still under investigation with no cause or original information at this time. No injuries occurred for residents or firefighters. A working fire alarm system was present and contributed to occupant safety. Park Avenue and Weymouth Street were shut down during operations, but are now open again.
