Although this blog has been off-;line for over a week now, some photos have been taken that depict some of the events in the community during that time.

It’s been reported for some months now that some of the condominium owners at the luxurious 118 Congress Street are Very Upset that the view on the building back side is largely blocked by the construction of a residential building behind it at 93 St. Lawrence Street. Trend setting architect David Lloyd told mhn.com recently: “We stayed within all city zoning regulations.  Any thing that gets built on Munjoy Hill from now on will block someone’s view,” referring to 93 St. Lawrence Street. Lloyd, a Hill resident, is the architect for the Newberry Street Luminato Condominiums that are just under construction,  (See below right photo.)

There is widespread speculation that the condescending  developers of 118 Congress Street and the developer of 93 St. Lawrence agreed that the latter would not begin his development until all of the condos on the backside of 118 Congress Street  had been sold – thus avoiding any knowledge of the  Susan Morris and Chip Newell, developers of 118 Congress Street. Previously Newell was a developer in Washington, D.C.

P.The duo is now in the process of developing  condos on Newberry Street on the Hill.  :Lloyd is also the architect on this project. (This is the property formerly owned by hedge fund owner Donald Sussman. former wife of US Rep. Chelle Pingree (D).

Some of the Talk of the Town is that while the design of these close  $1,M LLC’s  taking over the Hill is appealing,, the construction of these buildings  is often “cheap” and not up to the standards expected for such high priced units. .

Perhaps these high-end buildings were constructed in a rush while the market on Munjoy Hill is hot – when will the bubble buist?   Buyer be Ware!
