The city of Portland has announced a city-wide parking bank to begin this evening, Saturday, December 17 at 10:00 pm running through tomorrow morning Sunday December 18th at 6:00 am. Vehicles left on city streets will be towed at the owner’s expense.
The storm is expected to last all day before turning to sleet, ice and rain. Between 3 – 6 inches of snow is expected to fall before the storm ends and turns to rain tomorrow, Sunday, December 18th. This ban will give the Public Works crew an opportunity to clean up the streets unimpeded by vehicles on the street.
The city offers numerous free options for parking on the peninsula during a snow ban.
The public works service phone is: 207 – 874-8493
The parking ban hotline phone is: 207 – 879-0300.
2:00 pm Report! If you don’t have to go out, suggest that you don’t! Roads are still snow covered and sidewalks are slippery. Plows and sanders are out, but there is a long way to go.
