You are invited to attend an Open House for the new “Heartfelt School” on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 9:30 – 11:00 am at 227 Congress Street (second floor). The purpose of this event is to learn more about its early childhood program which is a Waldorf-inspired pre-school and kindergarten program. The School is currently enrolling children between the ages of 2 l/2 years old to 6 years old.

The three founding women, Simone Halstead, Jessica Gebhardt and Heidi Davidson, are all mothers of young children as well as experienced and trained professionals said Halstead at an interview at the Hilltop Coffee Shop recently. “There is a need for child care for this age group on the Hill and we are pleased to have an opportunity to fill that niche,” said the attractive Halstead.

The School which will begin in the Fall is non-academic and will have a maximum of ten students. It encourages free and creative thinking in a warm and inviting place that has been created at 227 Congress Street. Children participate in activities that will increase their imagination and physical movement. Each day, children will play circle games that include skipping, clapping, hopping, jumping and singing. That same circle serves as a daily story telling venue by the teacher who is Jessica Gebhardt.

Children will spend a lot of time outside permitting them experience in a Cultivating Community garden plot at Kennedy Park said Halstead. Children are expected to bring appropriate clothing for such outside activities. Craft activities will be offered by Halstead who serves as the School’s administrator and is also a psychologist. Because of the age of the children, healthy snacks will be served.

In September, classes will run from Monday through Thursday and not on Friday; from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. For parents there is the option of extending the day until 2:30 pm – an option with appeal for the older enrolled students.

More questions can be answered at the Open House on Saturday. Or in the alternative, please visit www.heartfeltschool.com for more details about the program.
