The Mumford & Sons concert on the Eastern Promenade is approaching and the City has just issued its traffic changes for the concert on August 4th. (The changes actually begin on Thursday, August 2nd.) The Eastern Promenade in Portland was one of four locations chosen earlier this year for this kickoff series to introduce a new album; the other states are Virginia, Illinois, and California.
The Festival begins at 2 pm Saturday and ends at 9:00 pm. At 7 am east end parking restrictions go into effect. That means internal street closures (those bordering the Eastern Promenade). At 10 am, the east end boat launch closes to the public. The concert box office opens at 11 am. The Day of the Show Box Office and Will Call will be located at the main entrance where Wilson Street meets the Eastern Promenade. That is the same time that Munjoy Hill closes to traffic. At noon, the doors to the Festival area open. The Festival begins at 2 pm and ends at 9 pm as stated previously.
On Friday, August 3rd at 10:00 pm., Cutter Street and parking lots will be closed to the public (except for boat launch traffic).
On Thursday, August 2, starting at 7 am., the top two parking lots on Cutter Street will be closed to the public.
Most important to Hill residents, on street parking will be restricted for the following streets from 7 am untill 11 pm., August 4th: Eastern Promenade (both sides)from Morning Street to Washington Avenue, Fort Allen Park (both sides); Mountfort Street from Congres Street to Fore Street (both sides), and Walnut Street from the Eastern Promenade to Washington Avenue.
At 7 am., on Saturday, August 4th, the following streets will be closed to the public until 10 pm in order to maintain emergency access routes: Eastern Promenade from Morning Street to Walnut Street, Wilson Street from Morning Street to the Eastern Promenade, Moody Street from Morning Street to the Eastern Promenade, Congress Street from Morning Street to the Eastern promenade, Quebec Street from Emerson Street to the Eastern Promenade, Melbourne Street from Emerson Street to the Eastern Promenade, Montreal Street from Willis Street to the Eastern Promenade and Walnut Street from Willis Street to the Eastern Promenade.
