Jeff Tarling, City Arborist, When he Established the Mount Joy Orchard, on Munjoy Holl Ten Years Ago.  With Him are Students from the Nearby East End Communiy School on May 11, 2014.

You are invited to attend the kick off to the 2024 gardening season at the ten year old Mt.Joy Orchard on Saturday, May 11th from 8:30 am – 3:00  pm. on the east end of Portland.  The Orchard was established on May 11, 2014.

Please join your neighbors in a plant swap, work party, grafting workshop and potluck lunch starting tomorrow morning.  Bring  your plants and a dish to share.

The Schedule is as Follows:

8:30 Mt. Joy Plant Library Tour.  Learn aboaut perennials available to dig and take home.  Bring a bucket & shovel. 9:00 am Sharp!  Plant Swap:   swap seedlings, divisions, seeds etc with fellow gardners; 10:00 am – Work party begins.  We are planning on a big plant out of Low  Bush Blueberry and some Paw Paws this year.  12:00 Potluck lunch and grafting workshop.  1:00 pm Work Party resumes; 3:00 pm Closing Circle.
