On Saturday, July 20, 2024 at approximately 7:33 pm., Maine State Trooper Patrick Flanagan was on a traffic stop with his emergency lights activated at mile marker 32 southbound on the Turnpike in Biddeford when his cruiser was rear-ended by aother vehicle.  The force of the crash caused Trooper Flanagan’s cruiser to spin around and strike the vehicle he had pulled over on the traffic stop.  The driver of that vehicle suffered minor injuries.  Trooper Flanagan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Portland hospital.  The driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser is Kianying Yu, 25, of Allston, Massachusetts.  She suffered minor injuries and was transported to a Biddeford hospital.

She was summoned for Failig to Keep Right.  The circumstances are under investigation according to a press release issued by Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, for the Department of Public Safety, Augusta.
