Today was an important day for model railway fans because it marked the return of a show to Portland for the first time in a number of years. The show was held at East End Community School on North Street and it was organized by George Carhart, also a Hill resident.
According to Carhart, there were 19 vendors, 5 railroad clubs and several radio clubs involved in the show. Around 900 people attended the day long show despite the poor weather.
Running the food concession part of the show was Betsy Graves, treasurer of the East End Community School PTO. All funds made from the sale of the food will go to support the PTO.
The show was produced in partnership by the PTO, MaiNe Track and Ray & Robbins’ Hobby Center of West Falmouth. According to Carhart, the show will be returning next fall on the first Saturday of October as well.
