Homeless Man Arrested in GPS Theft from Portland Waterfront

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:47 am., Porttland Police responded to Union Wharf for a report of a GPS unit missing from a vessel.  It appeared the unit had been stolen between May 9 – 13.  Later that day, 5/13/25, through investigating measures the item was located for sale online.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2025, Portland Police Detectives responded to the ad and set up a meeting with the seller at 1091 Congress Street.  The seller arrived with the item and was taken into custody without incident.  Police arrested 38 year-old Jessie Gerhrmann, homeless, charging him with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property (felony due to prior offenses) and Violaltion of Probation.

He was taken to Cumberland County Jail.
