White vinyl tents were erected today for the third annual Harvest on the Harbor that starts Thursday, October 21 and runs through October 23rd at Ocean Gateway on the Portland waterfront. The event is hosted by the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau. Tickets must be purchased in advance for the many events during the three day event, if they are still available.

The tents are larger than a football field said Jessica Whitten, event manager for the Harvest. In fact, the whole Harvest is three times larger than it has been in the past two years. According to Stephen Capone, Atent for Rent, Inc., the “Pavillon” measures 80 ft. by 300 ft. (www.atent4rent.com) His crew of 17 people were hard at work securing the tents in the breeze to ensure there will be no blow-overs if the winds are strong as they’ve been recently. Stephen said they’ve been tested in 73 miles per hour winds, but he doesn’t want to test them again this weekend!

Whitten said there are three new events added to the Harvest this year and tickets are still available for all three of them. The first is “The Ultimate Seafood Splash, on Thursday, October 21. It runs from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. at the Ocean View Room and the cost is $45. A wide variety of seafood and wine will be available – presented on 22 different tables.

The second event for which tickets are still available is “The Savory Samplings at the Marketplace.” It begins at noon and runs until 2:30 pm. The Marketplace will be repeated between 4 pm until 6:30 pm the same day. The cost is $35. per session. The location is the Oceanside Pavillon. Tickets are still available for both events.
