Mainers Want a Fresh New Face to Repesent them in Washington, DC Such as Oyster Farmer and US Marine Vet Graham Platner, 41, of Sullivan.

Signs Supporting Graham Platner for US Senate are Popping up All Over Portland like Welcome Spring Flowers.
Despite the recent publicity about his past comments on Reddit and the revelation of his controversial tattoo, his poll numbers have remained steady said Jen Psaki, moderator of her MSNBC cable news show about Graham Platner this evening. He is a candidate for Maine’s US Senate seat next year currently occupied by incumbent Senator Susan Collins (R).
Maine poll numbers remain at 58% in support of Mr. Platner’s candidacy over his closest rival Governor Janet T. Mills (D). The Governor’s poll numbers remain at 24%. One of these two is considered the most likely to challenge Senator Collins, a puppet of President Trump.
Mr. Platner said in the more in-depth interview than in the past on evening cable news shows that he was in a “dark period” in his life when those Reddit comments were made.
As to the controversial tatto which has since been covered up, he said “they are popular with military personnel.” He had recently returned from a tour as a Marine in Afghanistan and he was strugglng. As many people do following time spent in war zones. “I’m proud of where I am today,” he told Psaki. He said he wanted it to be known that people are capable of changing. Platner has become a frequent guest on night time cable news as his journey through PTSD has become political fodder for rivals and those who are threatened by his popularity; Unanticipated popularity that has made Mr. Platner a household name in record time. That journey has brought him squarely into the political spotlight as he makes a bid to unseat Senator Collins (R),
Mr. Platner also said that “most Americans have more in common than we know.” He said he learned that we need to be more open with ourselves and with others. He also said that the “people of Maine can see when someone is full of it and when they aren’t.” In a one-on-one situation people can “tell if you are lying or not.” Mr. Platner said he is “running as a Democrat even though some (in the party) are trying to destroy me. I know politics is a dirty game – it’s surreal.”
Last night Mr. Platner appeared at a town hall in Damariscotta where 700 people showed up; that in a town with a population of about 2,300 people is a significant factor.
While Mr. Platner frequents evening cable news shows, Governor Janet T. Mills (R) will be appearing at the dedication of a gateway to the Maine Educational Center at the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Falmouth. That is tomorrow morning at 10:00 am on Macworth Island.
