Governor Mills’ issued a statement yesterday in honor of the 47th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade:
“Today we mark the 47th Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade in honor of the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade – a decision that preserved and protected in law the fundamental right of a woman to make her own health care decisions. Since then, we have fought to maintain that right as forces, particularly politicians, seek to undermine, rollback or outright eliminate it. In the past year, Maine has made progress in making reproductive services more available to women, and as Governor, I will always work to ensure that every person has access to sexual and reproductive health care when and where they need it. As we mark this Anniversary, let us remain vigilant in defending women’s rights and recommend ourselves to making further progress for reproductive health care in Maine.”
