One of Numerous Signs at the NO KINGS DAY Rally in June Calling Out Collins for Doing Nothing to Stand up to Trump Authoriatism.
Following President Trump’s unilateral actions in Venezuela today, Governor Janet Mills, 78, is calling on Senator Susan Collins, 73, to use her position in the Senate to hold the Trump administration accountable and demand answers on behalf of the American people.
Governor Mills, 78, is calling on Susan Collins, 73, to immediately:
Place a hold on all Defense and State nominations until Congress obtains clear answers justifying the administation’s military operations and announced intention to “run” the country of Venezuela;
Use her position as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee to immediately schedule a public hearing with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and demand they provide Congress and the American people with detailed answers about the administration’s reckless actions and details about the announced plan to “run” the country of Venezuela. and
Use her position as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee to include a provision in the upcoming appropriations bills to prohibit any funds being used in Venezuela or on Venezuelan goverance or on military support for oil operations in Venezuela without authorization from the US Congress.
“Susan Collins gave Donald Trump the greenlight to move unilaterally towards a costly and unjustified war when she voted with her party against a bill to check his power,” said Governor Janet Mills. ‘We have had enough of Senator Collins feigning concern about the President’s abuses on the one hand while she rubber-stamps his agenda and his actions on the other. I call on Susan Collins to use the power she claims to have as Maine’s senior Senator to demand accountability from the Trump Administration and stand up to his dangerous and self-motivated power grab.”
As a reminder, in November, Susan Collins , 73, voted against a resolution that would have checked Trump’s power to launch an attack against Venezuela.
Despite repeated requests to his campaign, Graham Platner, 41, oyster farmer and US Marine Vet, has not issued a statement or press release on the to this blogger. Maybe that’s because of an incompetent staff. Or that Mr. Platner is just not up to intellectual snuff on the challenges ahead of this state. Maine needs more than a bobblehead to serve in the US Senate. Everyone enjoys an adorable bobblehead; just not to double as a US Senator from Maine.
