Good Book Reading Weather We Have!

This year the Portland Public Library’s book sale will be held on Thursday, June 16th through Sunday, June 19th at the Caatherine McAuley High School Gymnasium, 631 Stevens Avenue, Portland. The event is hosted by the Friends of Portland Public Library and all proceeds will benefit the public library system.

The Portland Public LIbrary was founded in 1867 and it serves the community by providing a diverse collection of books and other resources at four locations; the main library on Congress Street and three neighborhood branches.  The library system welcomes over 630,000 visitors annually and loans nearly a million items each year.  More information about the Portland Public Library can be found at its website: www.portlandlibrary.com

A special preview for members of the Friends of Portland Public Library will be held on Thursday, June 16th from 5 to 7 pm.  New members are  always welcome.  The $10.00 membership fee can be paid at the door or online at www.friendsofppl.org.  The public hours for the book sale are 10 am to 7 pm on Friday June 17th; Saturday June 18th and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday June 19th.

The Friends of Portland Public Library is a membership organization made up of library supporters and run by a volunteer board. We raise funds for the library, host library events and hold the annual book sale.
