In the evening of August 7, 2025, members of the Dexter Police Department received a report of suspected abuse of a seven month old infant.  The infant was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  The Dexter Police Department requested the Maine State Police/Major Crimes Unit North to lead the investigation.

Detectives responded and investigated in partnership with the Dexter Police Department and the Department of Health and Human Services.

On August 13, 2025, the victim’s father, Kolby Drake, 23, of Dexter, was arrested after an arrest warrant was issued.  He was booked at the Penobscot County Jail and will have in initial court appearane later this week.

This is an isolated incident with no ongoing public safety concerns.
