385 Congress Street LLC has submitted a site plan application to the city for change of use from a former printing plant for the “Portland Press Herald” to a 15,830 sf parking garage. Access to the internal parking garage will be from Cumberland Avenue.
Developer Joe Dasco, a principal of Reger-Dasco Properties, bought the 2.2 acres of land last fall. He is a major developer of condominiums in the India Street area and for the Rufus Deering Lumber Co., 383 Commercial Street.
The building is close to the Portland city hall and across Congress Street from the “Press Hotel” – former editorial offices for the paper.
