Two Munjoy HIll artists are returning to the Maine Jewish Museum Pop-up, 67 Washington Avenue, for exhibitions that are opening tomorrow, Thursday, August 13, 2020 starting at 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.

The first of the old timers is Lin Lisberger, guest sculptor, whose five pieces in the show are of carved wood.  This is the first time these pieces have been shown in Maine, having been previously shown at the University of Rhode Island, said Nancy Davidson, curator of the Museum.  There are two other, smaller pieces, not in the show.  They will make you chuckle, if not hungry.

The second old timer in the show is Ted Arnold.  Of his exhibit, “On Backorder”, Ted says:  “In America, our culture is the marketplace.  What sells is valuable and what doesn’t sell is not.  I have noticed a sad absence of products to address important needs.  I have created products to meet these needs.  Unfortunately, demand exceeds supply and all products are on backorder. Only these prototype paintings are available.”  On Backorder Oils on canvas or panel $450. each.

Both artists live on Munjoy Hilll.

Face masks are required for entry and please maintain 6 feet of social distancing.   Face masks  are also available at the Museum for a donation. Admission is free.

This location for the Museum is a temporary one; until the restoration work at the Congress Street location is completed following a May 2020 fire in which much of the inside was destroyed due to water damage from the in-house sprinkler system as well as from the Portland Fire Department.  This lease at the J. J. Nissen Building is expected to last for six months.

Please visit post herein dated August 6 for more background information on the Maine Jewish Museum Pop-up in the former J. J. Nissen Building.
