Sagamore Hill Bar , 150 Park Street,  Looses Its  Liquor License .  Closed Down Indefinitely.

The sign in the doorway of Sagamore Hill Bar, 150 Park Street, says that due to a “clerical error” the recently opened bar has lost its liquor license.   No date for its reopening was indicated. on the “OOPS” sign.  According to those familiar with the situation,  the  ruling came down yesterday.

The details of the “clerical error” are not known at this time, but others in the bar business said there are two reasons for the withdrawal of liquor licenses.  The first is for permitting over drinking by patrons.  The second is a lack of identification checks on age by bar personnel before the potential customer is served.  There are other reasons for losing a state liquor license, but the two above are the most common reasons for having liquor licenses revoked.  One of those other reasons could be the inability to demonstrate that the Bar is financially stable.

The newly opened bar on the west end of Portland received a thumbs down from this blogger back on July 4, 2018.  Please feel free to visit that post herein.

Note:  The renewal of a liquor license for Sagamore Hill is expected to take place before the city council on Monday, October 1, 2018.
