Rosemont Produce Company has announced that the latest in the Rosemont stores is opening its retail doors on Monday, March 5th. The location is at 7 Commercial Street – at the corner of India Street. The no-frills and very colorful space will be home to a “large volume retail facility at discount prices” said Joe Fournier, manager of the store as well as the 88 Congress Street store.
The new store will continue to sell to individuals looking for small quantities of produce. For example, it is expected to have appeal to residents of Peaks Island wanting to buy fresh produce within easy access to the ferry terminal. Additionallly, the store is gearing up to sell in bulk to restaurants in the area. Six restaurants in the area have been notified of this new service available to them and the feedback is positive so far. It is expected to serve as a central distribution location in the future.
Five days a week, Wesley Walker, drives to Chelsea Market, Boston, and picks up fresh produce for the other three Rosemont stores as well as bulk orders placed by restaurants. Those orders need to be placed 24 hours in advance and may be done by calling Walker at 207 – 699-4560 or faxing him at 207 699-4562 or visit rosemontproducecompany@gmail.com.
The new store actually had a soft opening earlier this week when it was open only part-time. Beginning on Monday, it will be open six days a week – Monday – Saturday between 11 am – 5 pm. As spring and better weather arrives, the hours will be longer. For the immediate future, the store is accepting CASH ONLY.
