Portland Food Co-op Hires Four New Staff; Special Tours Available Wednesday

The Portland Food Co-op, 290 Congress Street, has just announced that it has hired all four of its department managers according to a press release from Kevin Gadsby, Co-op General Manager. All four are highly qualified for these positions with extensive backgrounds in the co-op field.  The four are:  Becca Cabot (Deli Manager), Emily Marvin  (Grocery Manager), Michael Shepherd (Produce Manager) and Piper Dean (Wellness Manager).  The co-op will be hiring for cashiers, stockers and deli help in the near future.

Although no definite opening date has been named, it’s expected that it will open in mid-fall.

The goal of the Portland Food Co-op is for 2,000 Member-Owners.  They receive special discount benefits, a say in what goes on among other advantages.  Currently, Member-Owners total 1,831.  Your membership is needed to help open this new venue at the bottom of Munjoy Hill.

There are currently opportunities for supporters to make loans to the Co-op. Loans in the amount of $71,000. to the Co-op to be made by October 7th are necessary to ensure its opening date of mid-fall.  If you are interested, please call Board Member, Rachelle Curran Aspse, at 400-7154 or email her at:  ownership@portlandfood.coop.  If you have made a loan or are considering one, you are invited to a special Co-op tour of the building on Wednesday, October 1st at 5:30 pm.  The tour will be led by board members and by Kevin Gadsby, with time for Q & A.  Delicious appetizers will be provided by Winter Hill Farm and Grandy Oats.  Please RSVP for this tour by emailing ownership@portlandfood.coop.
