It’s official! Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney will hold a rally at Portland Yacht Services, 58 Fore Street, tomorrow, Friday, February 10th. It is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5 pm. Entrance is from Fore Street and doors open at 5:00 pm. He is here for the Maine caucuses.
MHN.com heard of his Portland Yacht Services visit yesterday on the Channel 6 news. When Phin Sprague, Jr., was emailed about the announcement, he was taken by surprise. Romney’s staff announced the rally before an agreement had been signed by the staff and Portland Yacht Services. “They were apparently considering several venues. We are pretty much floored at their speed and saying “OK”, rent the building, knock yourselves out. We will do our best to accommodate you….We just hope the heat works, the bathrooms flush and the client smiles!”
Around noon today, secret service detail and members of the Portland Police Department were conducting walk-throughs of building # 2, where the rally will be held tomorrow late afternoon. The rally is expected to be over by 7:30 pm. The entrance to the town hall is at 58 Fore Street and is marked by a Portland Yacht Services flag; parking is available at the lot next door.
Meanwhile, local activists are planning to demonstrate at the rally carrying signs in oppostion to the Romney campaign.
