Clifton Larson Allen LLP (CLA) has been selected to conduct an internal affairs investigation by the City of Portland related to the Portland Police Department’s response to a protest held in June 2020. The Police response to that protest was considered excessive according a press release just issued by mhn.com to mhn.com. The goal of the investigation is to ensure the integrity of the Department was maintained throughout its response to the protest, which began the evening of June 1, 2020 and concluded early in the morning of June 2, 2020.
This last sentence issued by the city’s spokeswoman indicated that the outcome of the upcoming investigation is a forgone conclusion – right?
The city has allocated $40,000 as part of the FY 21 budget for this investigation. An RFP was issued on October 21, 2020 and the city received two proposals on November 19th. An internal RFP Selection Committee reviewed both proposals, requested additional information from both respondents and held conversations with references before making the decision.
