City Still Looking for Host Families for Asylum Seekers at Portland Expo

Immigrants Arriving at the Portland Expo Last Month.

The physical count as of this morning at the Portland Expo was 259 according to an email from Jessica Grondin, city spokeswoman.  We have moved eight (8) families from the Expo to the units at the Family Shelter on Chestnut Street.

Greater Portland Council on Government (GPCOG) is still working on setting up a host family program and we continue to work on other housing options in and around the area.   The Expo needs to be empty by mid-August to accommodate other responsibilities.
