The defiant EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt underwent questioning today before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior and the Environment.  It was an effort by many to force the resignation or firing of the politically ambitious Pruitt from his current position.

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME.) read two letters from young students in District 1.  They were concerned that the fishing community that they grew up in would be unalterably changed by warming waters, rising sea levels and a shift in the lobster habitat.

Congresswoman Pingree’s office also released a copy of an April 6, 2018 letter to President Trump asking him to ask Pruitt to resign or fire him.  The reasons given related to Pruitt’s unethical behavior, wasteful use of taxpayer money and his efforts to undermine the EPA’s one mission – to protect our environment and public health demand.

Congresswoman Pingree also released a resolution she signed along with 139 other representatives and 39 senators expressing “no confidence” in the Administrator of the EPA.
