“A Taste of Spring” is on its own unpredictable way to Portland. It’s hard to know exactly when it will arrive in the northeast. But at least supporters know it will be here at the Portland Company Complex on Wednesday evening March 4th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. It will run through Sunday, March 8 until 5:00 pm. The popular Flower Show will be here sure as it has been for sixteen of the past eighteen years at the same place – on the scenic Portland waterfront at the bottom of Munjoy Hill.
“Out exhibit hall will be full with gardens and our vendor area has over 80 vendors and non-profits to educate you on the latest in the green industry,” said Joanna Sprague, show organizer. “This winter came early, then it got cold, so a taste of spring in March is a much-needed break. Come see and smell ‘spring’ and take some home with you.”
The thirteen (13) exhibitors will interpret the theme “A Taste of Spring” with creative displays of stone, trees, shrubs and flowers that have been forced into bloom months ahead of their normal time. The show will also feature numerous education exhibits and a wide array of national caliber speakers focusing on a range of gardening topics. Please check the website for the lecture schedule for each day.
A free shuttle bus picks passengers up along Commercial Street where the Flower Show signs are displayed and drops attendees off at the show front door.
Other highlights include: “The Flower Show Cafe overlooking Portland Harbor, with food by Amatos, the bookstore “Letterpress” just outside the lecture hall, and the Children’s Discovery Garden.
